Some talents are incompatible with others, so plan accordingly. I have finished the game three times now. no, persuasion does not make the game too easy. you also need persuasion to unlock something. I'm working on a dual wielding geo-brawler but I haven't really finished putting it together to optimize it. Persuasion also rises attitude with NPCs and thus affects the prices of merchants slightly, but not as much as Bartering skill.
